How I got interested in this field
Natural resource management is a complex undertaking with a broad scope that encompasses different resource ecosystems. Modeling and spatial analysis offer a unique blend of tools that allows systemic and systematic integration of the different components and aspects of natural resource management. The challenge of developing innovative and practical management tools that address the different components of natural resource management is what interests me and drives my research activities. Advances in science and technology and improved understanding of the biophysical and socio-economic aspects of natural resource management have enhanced my continued interests in the modeling.

Research Interests
Developing ecosystem-based models is one of my primary research interests. In these models, I try to integrate technical biophysical models with methods that focus on human dimensions of natural resource management. Combining these two seemingly disparate aspects involve finding innovative ways to bridge different methodologies and theoretical constructs. Ultimately, the goal of developing these management tools and models is to make them practical and applicable to real world situations. Hence, case studies applying these tools are also some of my important research activities.
