Why Illinois? – What factors helped contribute to your decision to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign?
I decided to attend the University of Illinois because it is a world-renowned research institute with outstanding alumni and faculty members across all disciplines. Apart from its excellent academic environment, U of I also strives to create an inclusive community that welcomes everyone regardless of their cultural identity. In addition, when I looked into the environmental science programs in different universities, the one in Illinois especially caught my eye because of its systematic curriculum design and stress on developing hands-on experience.
Why NRES? – Specifically, why did you choose to study Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences?
I have broad interests in many fields, and environmental science requires interdisciplinary approaches and a solid foundation of almost all natural science subjects. Also, the sublime beauty of nature inspires me and makes me want to discover more of it. I feel not only passionate but also obligated to participate in conserving this lovely blue planet.
