Why Illinois? – What factors helped contribute to your decision to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign?
I’m from here, so staying close to home was one part of my decision. However, this was not the biggest factor in my choice. I entered my freshman year undeclared, with no idea what I wanted to major in. I knew that the U of I would give me the foundation I needed, as well as the widest range of options, to help me discover what I want to pursue for the rest of my life. And it really did, within my first year of college I discovered NRES, and knew immediately it was what I wanted to do.
Why NRES? Specifically, why did you choose to study Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences?I finally decided to think, what do I want out of my classes in college, and what am I most interested in? This lead me to realize I wanted to do something involving some form of science, and something in which I could learn and eventually work outdoors. NRES was the perfect combination of all of that.
