Why Illinois? – What factors helped contribute to your decision to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign?

I have wanted to go to the University of Illinois since before I can even remember. I grew up here, in Champaign, so it was always my dream to go to the U of I. That aside, UIUC is an amazing institute for research, and science degrees in general, so it had everything I was looking for.

Why NRES? Specifically, why did you choose to study Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences?

I have always loved being outdoors, and have always been passionate about science, so NRES is the perfect way to incorporate both. It has a great combination of lab and science courses, as well as hands-on, research and field experience; all of which is exactly what I was looking for.  I came in as Undeclared as a freshman, and later that year learned about NRES. The second I heard about it, I knew it was exactly what I wanted to major in.
