Why Illinois? – What factors helped contribute to your decision to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign?

I chose the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign because during my first visit to campus I felt something familiar. I felt at home. The community across campus was so warm and inviting that it felt like I never left my hometown. With the heart and soul of a small town and the prestige of a top research institution, I could not have asked for a better university.

Why NRES? – Specifically, why did you choose to study Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences?

I chose to study Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences for my love of the outdoors. Growing up hunting and fishing with my dad taught me to value nature for its beauty and for the services it provides.  I wanted to use my passion for the outdoors and turn it into a career. NRES allowed me to do just that.
