Why Illinois? – What factors helped contribute to your decision to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign?

The University of Illinois provides for students an academic community that values cooperation over competition; this type of environment was very attractive to me as an incoming freshman.  I was also very interested in attending a top tier research university.  Having heard about all of the extremely important research being produced at the University of Illinois, it seemed like an obvious choice.

Why NRES? Specifically, why did you choose to study Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences?

I began my undergraduate career as an industrial engineering major.  After spending a few semesters studying a subject that I was not particularly interested in, I transferred into the NRES department.  Since then, I have found my specialized interest within environmental sciences, and am very much looking forward to using the knowledge and skills learned in NRES in my future career.
