Why Illinois? – What factors helped contribute to your decision to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign?
Transferring to Illinois is the best decision I have ever made, hands down. After two years at a medium out of state university, I decided I wanted more options. Due to its size, Illinois has more academic options, research options, work options, and social options than most schools. Our professors are experts in their fields, and working with them is a great way to get world-class research experience as an undergraduate.
Why NRES? – Specifically, why did you choose to study Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences?
As a ten-year-old, I wrote that my dream job would be an environmentalist. I’ve always been the family “tree-hugger,” and I’ve always loved science, so when I realized I could combine the two, I was committed. I love NRES because it is a research-driven field of study that allows humans to figure out the incredible ways the Earth works, and to me, that’s as close to magic as it gets.
