Why Illinois? – What factors helped contribute to your decision to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign?

I chose U of I because I wanted to go to a school where I could really grow academically, personally, and professionally. From research opportunities to RSOs, there are so many ways to explore your passions and develop new skills on campus.

Faculty and students have always been happy to help guide me as I try new things.

Despite the university’s large size, it has been easy for me to find my community and sense of belonging!

Why NRES? – Specifically, why did you choose to study Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences?

I decided to major in NRES because I am passionate about the environment, and I want to make a meaningful positive impact on the world in my future career.

One of my favorite things about my major is the diverse range of courses. I am able to take classes on both the natural and social sciences. When choosing a major, this was really important to me. I did not want to be limited to one discipline.

Thanks to my concentration, I have been able to learn about all my interest areas and develop a thorough understanding of many environmental science topics.
