Why Illinois? – What factors helped contribute to your decision to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign?
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and specifically the NRES department went out of their way to accommodate me when I was touring and was more than willing to answer any questions and assuage any concerns my parents and I might have had.
Beyond my personal experiences with the recruitment process, UIUC also provides excellent opportunities for undergraduate growth with undergraduate research and a plethora of extracurricular activities as well as the availability of renowned faculty that I felt would assist me in building a successful future.
All of these resources have factored into my enjoyment and success here so far!
Why NRES? – Specifically, why did you choose to study Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences?
Since I was a kid, I have been involved in natural exploration and have felt passionate about the upkeep of our natural resources. It came as a natural progression for me to continue this passion through environmental conservation/restoration and the NRES major with its comprehensive and science-based curriculum provides the best path for this pursuit.
